Urging cooperation to boost Myanmar-Thailand trade

Min Aung Hlaing, the Head of State, urged everyone to work together to further develop and strengthen trade, investment, border trade, and regional economic connectivity between Myanmar and Thailand. This was stated by Min Aung Hlaing, the Head of State, while delivering a speech at the Myanmar-Thailand Economic Forum held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok on August 6, at around noon local time. He stated that he fully believes that cooperation in all sectors that benefit both countries, including bilateral trade and investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, can be further developed. Furthermore, the Head of State expressed his belief that if Thai businesses combine Myanmar's natural resource advantages with technology, capital, and management experience, a Win-Win business environment that benefits both sides can be further strengthened. Regarding bilateral trade between Myanmar and Thailand, it was stated that the trade volume between the two countries from 2022 to June 2026 is expected to exceed US$20 billion. Thailand is the fifth-largest investing country in Myanmar, and it is known that 103 investment projects worth over US$4.6 billion are being carried out in Myanmar. The Myanmar delegation, led by Min Aung Hlaing, the Head of State, arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, on the morning of August 6, for an official visit at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul.
