Hanoi to Boost Night-time Economy with Targeted Policies

Hanoi is advancing concrete initiatives to boost its night-time economy, aiming to double tourist spending during these hours from the current approximately 15% to 30%. The city plans to establish and operate "flagship night-time economy zones" with diverse characteristics. Under this plan, zones leveraging historical buildings and cultural heritage will be developed in areas such as Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, Ba Dinh, Son Tay, and Soc Son. Modern hubs equipped with the latest entertainment facilities are also slated for Tay Ho, My Dinh, and Dong Anh. Furthermore, "creative economy zones" will be established in linkage with cultural industries like theaters, cinemas, and museums. In suburban craft villages and resort areas such as Bat Trang, Ba Vi, and Huong Son, new attractions centered on cultural tourism are expected to be promoted. Hanoi authorities intend to attract private investment by applying preferential policies to these zones, thereby expanding consumption opportunities for tourists at night. This represents a significant step for Vietnam as it seeks to diversify its tourism industry and revitalize regional economies amidst ongoing economic growth. Under Vietnam's one-party system, large-scale economic development plans are often driven by the government.
