Indonesia Pushes for Local Script Internet Domains, Prepares Launch at ICANN87
Indonesia is accelerating the adoption of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) to utilize its diverse Nusantara scripts in the digital space, as currently only three—Javanese, Balinese, and Pegon—are registered as internet domain names. PANDI (Indonesian Internet Domain Name Manager) is collaborating with the Ministry of Culture to prepare for a launch at ICANN87 in Bali in October 2026.
