Airstrike by junta forces kills displaced man

Local residents say a junta airstrike hit an area west of Demoso Township, Karenni State, around 6 p.m. on August 6, killing a displaced man in his 50s. A displaced man who witnessed the attack said the victim, a father of three, was struck and killed instantly by heavy weapons fired from the plane. Residents said a junta jet fighter struck a displacement camp three times. One of those strikes hit the man directly, killing him on the spot. A woman in her 70s was also wounded and is currently receiving medical treatment. The bomb dropped in the jet’s third pass also struck a middle school building where displaced children had been studying, destroying the entire structure. Near the site of the airstrike, junta troops are reportedly massing forces to launch a ground offensive on Daw Ngan Kha village, and clashes between junta and revolutionary forces are occurring there almost daily, with both sides using aircraft, heavy weapons, and drones.
