Phnom Penh Implements Temporary Traffic Restrictions for 'Temple Fair' at Wat Phnom

Phnom Penh authorities have announced temporary traffic restrictions in anticipation of the community event, "Temple Fair," to be held at the Wat Phnom Historical and Cultural Site on September 23rd. This event, jointly organized by the Ministry of Tourism and G Adventures, is expected to attract approximately 700 national and international participants. The fair is scheduled to take place from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on the same day. To ensure the event proceeds smoothly, maintains security, safety, order, and public hygiene, and to prevent traffic congestion, authorities will temporarily prohibit all types of vehicles from circulating around the roundabout of the Wat Phnom Historical and Cultural Site from 2:00 PM until the event concludes. Authorities are urging all citizens to be aware of and cooperate with these traffic measures, requesting them to avoid traveling through the aforementioned roads during the specified times due to potential heavy traffic caused by event attendees. Normal traffic flow will resume after the temporary restrictions are lifted. Upon receiving this notification, the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, the Municipal Gendarmerie Command, the Don Penh District Administration, the Municipal Department of Public Works and Transport, and all relevant authorities at all levels have been instructed to disseminate this information widely and implement it effectively. This 'Temple Fair' is expected to foster community interaction and offer visitors a cultural experience at the historic Wat Phnom. However, the temporary traffic disruptions highlight the challenges of managing large-scale events in urban centers, impacting daily life and commercial activities.
