Vietnam Accelerates Identification of Fallen Soldiers' Remains in Lam Dong Province

In Vietnam's south-central Lam Dong Province, the identification of remains of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country is being rapidly advanced. Particularly at Hill 722 in Dak Sak Commune, a former fierce battlefield, investigation teams have been working since July, with the cooperation of residents, to cross-reference maps and determine coordinates. This initiative aims to honor the achievements of fallen soldiers and convey them to the people by collecting, organizing, and accurately identifying their remains. Lam Dong Province has so far collected over 3,400 remains at the national martyrs' cemetery and is attempting to identify the individuals by collecting DNA samples from 12 more sets of remains. Provincial authorities are broadly appealing to the public for information that can lead to identification. Under Vietnam's one-party system, honoring those who contributed to the nation, especially soldiers who died in war, plays a crucial role in fostering national unity and patriotism. While Vietnam continues its economic growth, the memories of past wars are deeply etched in the hearts of its people, and such identification efforts are positioned as important activities connecting the past, present, and future. Furthermore, with increasingly complex relations with China, the aspect of strengthening national cohesion cannot be ignored.
