Drugs worth over 1 billion kyats seized in Tachileik

Myanmar Police announced that drugs worth an estimated 1.26 billion kyats were seized in Tachileik city, Shan State (Eastern) on September 14. Joint teams, including security force members, acting on information, conducted a search around 1 p.m. on September 14 near the clock tower roundabout at the head of the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 1 in Tachileik city. During the search, Myo Hlaing Oo (alias Myo Min Oo), who was walking, was found to be suspicious and was searched. Approximately 281.6 milliliters of ketamine oil, worth about 88.4 million kyats, was found inside his backpack and seized, according to the report. Furthermore, based on the confession of the arrested person, U Hlaing Win Tint, who purchased the drugs for resale, was arrested, and drugs worth over 1 billion kyats were discovered at his residence, according to the statement. The arrested individuals along with the seized drugs have been systematically handed over to the relevant township police station to take effective legal action, and a case has been opened. Myanmar Police stated that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accomplices.
