Cambodia will celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the promulgation of its Constitution on September 24, 2026. This date marks a historic occasion for the Cambodian people. The current constitution, adopted by the Constituent Assembly on September 21, 1993, is the sixth constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia. It was officially promulgated by His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk, the late "Preah Borom Ratanakot," through a Royal Decree dated September 24, 1993. As the supreme law of the Kingdom of Cambodia, all laws and decisions of state institutions must strictly adhere to the constitution. Over its 33-year history, the constitution, comprising 16 chapters and 158 articles, has served as the foundation for peace and national development. It establishes the principles of the separation of powers into legislative, executive, and judicial branches, and enshrines fundamental citizens' rights and the rule of law. On this significant occasion, leaders and public officials from all levels of the Ministry of Public Functions have expressed their firm commitment to faithfully respecting and defending the constitution, the King, and the constitutional monarchy. They also pledged to contribute to maintaining the spirit of peace, political stability, and national development. Concurrently, the Ministry is committed to enhancing governance through reforms in public administration, aiming for greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability to serve the supreme interests of the people and the nation.
