Localized heavy rains expected in some regions of Myanmar

Due to the moderate to strong monsoon winds in the Bay of Bengal and the southern Bay of Bengal, active development of cumulonimbus clouds, and atmospheric instability in the Bay of Bengal and the Bay of Bengal, localized heavy rains are expected in some regions and states from September 16 to 20, with scattered to widespread thunderstorms in some areas, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced on the morning of September 16. Localized heavy rains are expected in Yangon Region, Bago Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kayin State, Mon State, and Rakhine State between September 16 and 20. Additionally, scattered rains are expected in Magway Region, Sagaing Region, Kachin State, Chin State, and Shan State, while scattered to widespread thunderstorms are possible in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kayah State, Kayin State, Mon State, and Rakhine State. Along with heavy rains, natural disasters such as strong winds, flash floods, and landslides are also possible, so residents living near high ground are advised to be aware of the risk of landslides, and those living near small rivers and streams are advised to be aware of the risk of floods and inundation. Furthermore, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a notice for domestic flights, and for coastal and offshore fishing vessels and ships in the coastal and offshore waters of Myanmar to take precautions in advance.
