Cambodia Accelerates Industrial Shift Towards High-Tech, Skilled Manufacturing

The Royal Government of Cambodia is intensifying its strategic push to transform the country's industrial model from labor-intensive manufacturing to production based on skills and advanced technology. This directive was conveyed during a meeting held on August 4th, involving H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and executives from automotive wire harness companies operating within the country. The meeting included senior CDC officials, representatives from relevant ministries and state institutions, and executives from automotive wire harness firms. On behalf of the Royal Government, H.E. Sun Chanthol reiterated the commitment to support and facilitate stakeholders, ensuring continued progress in automotive wire harness manufacturing and fostering a more favorable environment for further investment. The Deputy Prime Minister also instructed relevant authorities to collaborate closely with the private sector and address requests raised during the meeting in a timely and effective manner, with the objective of strengthening Cambodia's competitiveness in regional and global markets. The meeting reviewed the overall progress of investments in the sector, with companies providing updates on their production activities and business operations. Representatives of the wire harness manufacturers expressed their appreciation for the direct dialogue with the government, stating that the platform would help enhance cooperation and bolster confidence in Cambodia's investment climate.
