Vietnam to Enhance University and Career Guidance for 2027

Vietnam is set to enhance its university and career guidance programs, with a target year of 2027. This initiative will place a strong emphasis on career education starting from the secondary education level, aiming to help students choose career paths that align with the demands of the future labor market. Specifically, the plan includes expanding career guidance content, providing personalized counseling services based on up-to-date employment market data, and implementing early intervention from the lower and upper secondary education (THCS) stages. This is seen as a crucial step to address the rapid economic growth and structural changes in industries that Vietnam is experiencing. Vietnam has achieved remarkable economic growth in recent years, particularly in manufacturing, leading to a more diversified and advanced labor market. However, a gap persists between the education system and labor market needs, with challenges such as graduate unemployment and a shortage of specialized personnel required by companies being noted. This policy aims to tackle these issues, maximize employment opportunities for the youth, and foster human resource development to support the country's long-term economic growth. Under its one-party system, the Communist Party of Vietnam prioritizes economic development, and strengthening investment in education is part of its strategy to achieve these goals.
