Thailand Launches Pilot Program in 20 Provinces to Alleviate Poverty Through Research Utilization

Thailand's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) has launched a new project to accelerate the societal implementation of research findings aimed at poverty reduction. The initiative, led by the Thailand Research and Innovation Promotion Agency (TRIP) under the ministry, will be piloted in 20 provinces across the country. The objective is to directly link innovative research outcomes generated by universities and research institutions to the resolution of poverty issues faced by local communities. Specifically, the project will focus on identifying research themes relevant to local conditions, promoting collaboration between researchers and local residents, and supporting pilot experiments and dissemination activities of research findings. This aims to revitalize local economies and improve the living standards of residents. Through this project, MHESI aims to contribute to rectifying poverty disparities within Thailand and achieving a sustainable society. Based on the results of this pilot in 20 provinces, nationwide expansion is also being considered for the future.
