Cuu Long University Awards Over 9 Billion VND in Scholarships and Awards at Opening Ceremony

Cuu Long University in southern Vietnam held its opening ceremony for the 2026-2027 academic year on September 18. The university welcomed 3,645 new regular students for its 27th cohort, specializing in 42 fields of study. Among them were 19 international students from Cambodia, Laos, and Sri Lanka. Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, PhD, and Meritorious Educator Luong Minh Cu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector, highlighted the significant achievements of the 2025-2026 academic year in student recruitment, training, scientific research, and international cooperation. For the new academic year, the university is committed to promoting innovation and creativity, enhancing training quality, advancing digital transformation, and accelerating international integration. Nguyen Quynh Thien, Vice Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, acknowledged and commended the university's contributions in supplying high-quality human resources to the Mekong Delta region and the entire country. Over its more than 26 years of development, Cuu Long University has trained nearly 48,000 bachelors, engineers, and pharmacists, along with over 1,500 master's degree holders. The employment rate for its graduates stands at nearly 97%. During the ceremony, one top scorer and five second-highest scorers in the entrance examination for the 27th cohort were honored. Additionally, 16 full scholarships totaling 1.1 billion VND were awarded to Khmer ethnic students. Another 11 full scholarships worth 1.8 billion VND were granted to international students from Laos, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka. Furthermore, 142 scholarships were provided to students facing difficult circumstances but demonstrating academic excellence. The total amount for awards, scholarships, and tuition fee exemptions reached over 9 billion VND. In addition to the university's initiatives, over 37 organizations, businesses, and individuals donated more than 1.1 billion VND to the university's scholarship fund to support students' academic endeavors.
