Can Tho Police Intensify DNA Sample Collection for Unidentified Martyrs' Relatives

Can Tho City Police in southern Vietnam are intensifying efforts to collect DNA samples from the relatives of martyrs whose identities remain unconfirmed. This initiative aims to assist in identifying the remains of fallen soldiers whose information has been lost over time. Can Tho City has already sent 670 sets of DNA samples from the remains of unidentified martyrs for genetic analysis. The current campaign focuses on matching these remains with the DNA of their surviving relatives, striving to clarify the identities of as many unknown fallen soldiers as possible. Due to the prolonged wars, many martyrs' identities in Vietnam remain unconfirmed. The government considers identifying these remains and bringing solace to their families a significant national priority, with the utilization of DNA identification technology being a central method. This DNA sample collection is part of ongoing efforts across Vietnam. In the past, similar initiatives have successfully identified numerous martyrs, leading to reunions and commemorative ceremonies for their families. The Can Tho City Police plan to proceed with this sensitive task in cooperation with relevant agencies, ensuring thorough explanations and gaining the trust of the families involved.
