Cambodia Border Seizes 50 Packs of Marijuana from Thai Repatriates' Luggage

Fifty packs of dried marijuana were discovered by front-line forces among the belongings of Cambodian workers being repatriated by Thai authorities. The dried marijuana, totaling 50 packs, was found in the luggage of Cambodian laborers returning via a border corridor in Kamrieng District, Battambang Province. The owner of the contraband was not identified at the time of discovery. On September 20, 2026, at 5:40 AM, forces from the 819 Border Defense Police Unit, in conjunction with the 531 Military Unit, received Cambodian workers returning from Thailand through a corridor located in Kandal Village, Trang Commune, Kamrieng District, Battambang Province. During the inspection of their luggage, a carton containing 25 boxes, equivalent to 50 packs of dried marijuana, was found. The owner could not be located, and the confiscated items were handed over to the specialized anti-narcotics unit of the Kamrieng District Police Inspectorate for case preparation and further proceedings. Authorities from the Anti-Drug Unit of the Kamrieng District Police Inspectorate confirmed that on September 20, 2026, at 1:04 PM, they received one carton containing 25 boxes, totaling 50 packs of dried marijuana, from the 819 Border Defense Police Unit, which had collaborated with the 531 Military Unit in receiving returning workers. As the owner was not found at the time, the front-line forces handed over the seized items to the specialized police for investigation to determine the true owner of the illegal dried marijuana.
