Philippines Orders Establishment of Safer School Zones to Enhance Student Security
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the Philippines has directed all local government units (LGUs) nationwide to establish "Safer School Zones" (SSZs) following recent student-related violence. Approximately 277,744 village watchmen will also be mobilized to bolster protection for students against crime and traffic hazards.
