Kandal Province Conducts Drug Tests on Officials to Ensure Clean Public Service

Kandal Province in Cambodia has conducted drug tests on over 300 leaders, civil servants, and contract staff working at the provincial hall. The testing took place on August 31, 2026, within the provincial hall premises. The drug testing was carried out under the direct order of Kandal Provincial Governor Kuoch Chamroeun, in cooperation with the Provincial Police Commissionerate, the Provincial Department of Health, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, and other relevant authorities. The initiative is intended to ensure that all civil servants performing their duties to serve the citizens daily are individuals of integrity, free from involvement in the use or trafficking of illegal drugs. The Kandal provincial authorities emphasized that any official found to have drug substances in their body will face the strictest disciplinary measures, with no leniency or exceptions. The Kandal Provincial Administration further stated that this drug testing will not be a one-time event but will continue to be conducted regularly and sequentially to ensure that public administration in Kandal Province is a clean institution, completely free of drugs.
