Cambodia to Enhance Cooperation with US Firm on Weather and Water Resource Management

Cambodian Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, Thong Cheath, met with a delegation from the US-based I.M. Systems Group (IMSG) on July 23, 2026, to discuss strengthening cooperation in meteorology and water resource management. Minister Thong Cheath warmly welcomed Ms. Imelda Martin-Hum, President of IMSG, and her delegation. He briefed them on the ministry's key priorities, including enhancing meteorological and hydrological services, human resource development, and modernizing the national weather forecasting system. These efforts aim to provide reliable and timely weather information to protect lives and property, support agricultural production, improve water resource management, reduce disaster risks, and increase resilience to climate change, ultimately contributing to sustainable economic and social development. The Minister welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with IMSG to support Cambodia's vision of developing a climate-resilient, modern water resource and meteorology management system. The focus will be on strengthening digital transformation, improving data-driven decision-making, enhancing forecasting and early warning capabilities, and building institutional and technical capacity through knowledge transfer, training, and expert exchange. IMSG is a US-based science and engineering company specializing in operational meteorology, hydrology, earth observation, geospatial technology, environmental information systems, and decision support solutions. The company has extensive experience supporting government agencies in applying science and technology to improve weather services, environmental monitoring, and climate resilience.
