Vietnam Expels Two Former Health Officials from Party

Vietnam's Communist Party Central Secretariat has decided to expel two individuals, Tran Van Thuan, former Deputy Minister of Health, and Nguyen Huy Ngoc, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, from the party for violating party regulations. The decision was made on September 16 at the Party Central Committee headquarters, following a proposal from the Central Inspection Committee. Both individuals were found to have declined in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle. They are accused of violating party regulations and state laws while performing their assigned duties, and of failing in their responsibilities concerning the prevention of corruption, waste, and negativity. Their actions have caused severe consequences, public dissatisfaction, and significantly damaged the prestige of the party organizations, localities, and their respective workplaces. Based on the nature, severity, consequences, and causes of the violations, and in accordance with party regulations on discipline for erring party members, the Central Secretariat has decided to expel Tran Van Thuan and Nguyen Huy Ngoc from the party. The relevant authorities have been urged to promptly and synchronously implement administrative disciplinary measures in parallel with the party disciplinary action. This expulsion is seen as part of Vietnam's ongoing anti-corruption campaign. In Vietnam's one-party system, the Communist Party is central to governance, and maintaining party discipline is crucial for regime stability. In recent years, the Vietnamese government has been promoting economic growth while simultaneously intensifying crackdowns on corruption and malfeasance, with this disciplinary action aligning with that trend.
