Thailand to Hold Social Security Board Election on September 27

The Thai government has emphasized the importance of managing the Social Security Fund, which serves as a cornerstone for the health and lives of workers nationwide, and announced that the election for the Social Security Board (SSO) will take place on Sunday, September 27. Voting will be conducted from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The government advises employers and insured individuals to proactively check their voting eligibility and polling station locations. This can be done through various channels, including the SSO website (www.sso.go.th), the e-Service system for employers, the e-Self Service system for insured individuals, or the mobile application 'SSO Plus'. Additionally, a notification system will send SMS reminders to insured individuals who have previously expressed their wish and provided their phone numbers to the SSO. The government highlighted that this SSO Board election differs from general elections, and voters must pay close attention to the voting procedure. Instead of marking a candidate's number, voters are required to write a single Arabic numeral of their chosen candidate within a designated square box. Both insured individuals and employers can select up to seven candidates each. To ensure transparency in the voting process, the Election Commission has issued regulations prohibiting the photography of polling booths in a manner that reveals or allows deduction of voting choices. After 4:00 PM, the opening of ballot boxes and vote counting can be photographed, provided it does not breach the designated boundaries. Any irregularities observed during voting should be reported to the election committee at the polling station. Similarly, any errors in vote counting or recording should be immediately challenged.
