Myanmar-Thailand discuss cooperation on river pollution and energy sector

President Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to Thailand, met with Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin at the Government House in Thailand on the morning of August 6th, local time. They discussed cooperation between the two countries on cross-border haze, river pollution, and the energy sector. In addition to the President and the Thai Prime Minister, the meeting was attended by Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi and U Tin Maung Swe, Myanmar's Ambassador to Thailand U Zaw Zaw Soe, and officials from both countries. During the meeting, discussions were held on the political developments in Myanmar, the cooperation between the two countries in ensuring stability and peace in the border region, efforts to combat online gambling and online fraud, measures against illegal cross-border trade, and cooperation in the areas of cross-border haze, river pollution, and the energy sector. Furthermore, Myanmar will continue to maintain constructive and beneficial cooperation with ASEAN, and discussions were also held on the situation of increasing engagement and cooperation based on existing friendships with each ASEAN member state. It was also reported that opinions were exchanged on the situation of promoting friendly relations and strategic partnership cooperation between the two countries.
