Vietnam Police Strengthen Community Ties for Peacekeeping

Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security is promoting "mass mobilization" (dân vận khéo) activities to deepen ties with local communities, achieving remarkable results in building the "All-People's Movement for National Security." This initiative shifts focus from traditional "management" to "service," implementing thousands of effective local self-governance models closely integrated with citizens' lives. Notably, the model "Peaceful Tan Phu District via Zalo Connection" in Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City, has garnered attention. This model leverages "Zalo," a widely used messaging app in Vietnam, to facilitate information sharing and prompt problem-solving between local residents and the police. It enables efficient early detection and reporting of crimes, as well as the collection of feedback from community members. Furthermore, in response to advancing digitalization, efforts are being intensified in areas such as "Ensuring Information Security" and "Promoting Digital Transformation in the All-People's Movement for National Security." These initiatives aim to prevent cybercrime and expand community safety activities utilizing digital platforms. These activities are positioned as part of the national strategy under Vietnam's one-party system, prioritizing social stability and order maintenance. For Vietnam, which continues to experience economic growth, domestic stability is the foundation for attracting foreign investment and sustaining economic development. Particularly, strengthening internal cohesion is deemed crucial for national security, especially amidst complex relations with China. By fostering community engagement, the Ministry of Public Security contributes to maintaining peace and safety throughout Vietnam by enhancing the security awareness of each citizen and deterring crime.
