Sihanoukville Investment Committee approved two wood processing factory projects with a combined investment under $5 million, expected to contribute to the province's economic development and job creation.
In Sihanoukville, a key coastal province in southwestern Cambodia, the provincial investment sub-committee has approved two investment projects related to wood processing industries. Both projects involve investments under $5 million. The approved projects include the establishment of a plywood and furniture manufacturing factory by ZHENGSEN WOOD INDUSTRY CO.,LTD., located in Chamkar Leu village, Kamphong Selela commune, Kamphong Selela district. The second project is for a plywood manufacturing factory by DONGPING WOOD CO.LTD., to be situated in Ou Knar Teng village, Ou Knar Teng commune, Sihanoukville city (Kampong Som). During the meeting led by Mr. Long Dimang, Deputy Governor of Sihanoukville Province, it was confirmed that these projects met the necessary qualifications for registration. Mr. Dimang stated that as of the first nine months of this year, the provincial investment sub-committee had approved a total of 18 investment projects. In 2025, seven projects with investment capital under $5 million were also approved. Deputy Governor Long Dimang provided specific directives to the companies, emphasizing the importance of proper wastewater treatment facilities for environmental protection, issuing social security cards for workers, ensuring adequate ventilation for staff safety, promoting green spaces through tree planting, and establishing fire extinguishing systems. These investments are seen as part of Sihanoukville's efforts to strengthen its position as a special economic zone and attract diverse industries. In a region with significant investment from China, the development of manufacturing sectors is expected to have a notable impact on the local economy.
