Phnom Penh's 7 Makara District Holds Public Forum to Address Citizen Concerns

The 7 Makara District Administration in Phnom Penh organized a dissemination and consultation forum with residents from all 8 communes. The event aimed to publicize achievements and to listen to and effectively address the requests and challenges faced by local citizens. The forum was held on the afternoon of August 7, 2026, under the chairmanship of H.E. Pich Piseth, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources, representing H.E. Chhea Bunrith, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources, along with Mr. Va Saban, a member of the District Council, and Mr. Teng Sothol, Governor of the 7 Makara District Administration. Regarding solutions to significant local issues: Infrastructure and Drainage Systems: In response to flooding during heavy rains on Street 164, Sangkat Orussey 2, Mr. Teng Sothol stated that authorities have dispatched multiple pump trucks to clear the drainage, with only two wells remaining to be addressed. The technical team will continue to resolve the issue until completion to prevent further flooding. Waste Management and Sanitation: Addressing the issue of garbage on Street 215, the District Governor confirmed that authorities have distributed garbage bins to households. For disorderly waste disposal, specialized officials will monitor and enforce fines against individuals violating sanitation regulations. Land and Housing Issues: In response to a question from Ms. Pov Lida concerning land disputes, the District Governor has assigned specialized officials from the Land Management Department to facilitate and provide direct legal procedural guidance to citizens. Traffic Safety near Schools: A request was made to install pedestrian markings and traffic signs around Bakteo School to ensure student safety. The District Governor accepted the request and announced that it would be forwarded to the Phnom Penh Department of Public Works and Transport for action. Mr. Teng Sothol further emphasized that all opinions and requests from citizens, whether made in person or in writing, will be continuously addressed by the authorities. This consultation forum demonstrates the high commitment of the 7 Makara District Administration and Council to promote transparency, strengthen public service delivery, and provide opportunities for citizens to initiate development in their local areas.
