Bali Airport Investigates Electronic Bomb Threat Information

Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has announced that the police have launched an investigation into information containing suspected bomb threats received via electronic mail on Sunday night. According to Ipda I Gede Suka Artana, Head of Public Relations for the Ngurah Rai Airport Police Resort, airport authorities received electronic information containing suspected bomb threats around 9:58 PM WITA on Sunday. Following this, police investigators from the airport police immediately initiated follow-up steps in coordination with relevant parties. "Upon receiving the information, personnel from the Ngurah Rai Airport Police Resort through the criminal investigation unit immediately took follow-up steps by coordinating with related parties," said Ipda I Gede Suka Artana in a written statement received on Wednesday (5/8). He explained that the police are also conducting investigations and in-depth studies into the information, including coordinating with relevant agencies and summoning parties who received the electronic information in question to uncover the truth. "We continue to investigate and delve into the information in accordance with applicable procedures. All steps are carried out professionally with coordination with related parties," emphasized Gede Suka. Despite this, he ensured that the security and public order situation (kamtibmas) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport remains safe and conducive. Flight operations and services to airport users are also running normally. He also urged the public not to spread untrue information, including jokes or hoaxes that can cause unrest and disrupt security and order. "We invite all members of the public to jointly maintain a safe, comfortable, and conducive situation in the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport area for the comfort of all passengers and airport users," he said. Previously, the management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport spoke out regarding the alleged bomb threat in the area. "The airport received electronic information containing suspected bomb threats," said Eka Sandi, in a written statement on Tuesday (4/8). Then, the security committee and relevant agencies immediately implemented security threat handling procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures. "Based on further investigation, no indication of truth was found in the information received by the airport. Therefore, we can convey that flight operations and airport services at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport continue to run safely, smoothly, and in a controlled manner," he added.
