Cambodian People's Party Welcomes Over 3,000 New Members in Phnom Penh

The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) held a large induction ceremony on July 4, 2026, welcoming 3,087 new members from five communes within the Chkarmorn district of Phnom Penh. The event took place at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center. Heng Sour, a member of the CPP Central Committee and head of the party's working group for the Chkarmorn district, presided over the ceremony and extended a warm welcome to the new members. He highlighted the historical significance of the CPP as the oldest and most politically mature party in Cambodia, which has achieved numerous victories for the nation throughout its long history, commending the new members' decision to join. Mr. Sour conveyed greetings and deep affection from CPP President Hun Sen, Honorary President Heng Samrin, and the five deputy presidents, emphasizing the profound bond among party members. He praised the exemplary character of the top leadership and the dedication of party members at all levels to their duties, adherence to party principles and regulations, strengthening grassroots work, and disseminating party policies. He lauded the Chkarmorn district party committee for their efforts in strengthening party spirit through the approach of "maintaining the old and increasing the new," as consistently encouraged by President Hun Sen and the deputy presidents. He urged new members to understand the party's history, its founding purpose for the nation, its emblem, motto, and the leadership structure headed by Hun Sen. He also explained the party's constitution and internal regulations, aimed at uniting all patriotic Cambodians who love democracy and peace, regardless of status, nationality, religion, or past, to jointly protect national achievements and build an independent, peaceful, free, democratic, neutral, and socially progressive Cambodia. Mr. Sour stated that the party's success stems from its political righteousness in all circumstances, its connection with the people, the principle of collective leadership with individual responsibility, a strong organizational structure at all levels, loyalty, virtue, ethics, careful planning for generational succession, and robust internal unity. He asserted that the CPP is the sole party that overthrew the genocidal regime, rescued the nation, restored and built the country, defended its independence and territorial integrity, established and maintained peace, and achieved socio-economic development, leading Cambodia to prosperity. He stressed that sustaining this success requires continued preservation of peace, which party leaders, especially President Hun Sen, have risked their lives for. He called upon new members to fully commit to good ethics, set positive examples in implementing the party's political program, constitution, and state laws to gain further trust and support from the public, and to respect the contributions of previous generations while enhancing their own capabilities. A representative of the new CPP members stated that only the CPP possesses a political program, correct leadership, and has made immense contributions to the nation and its people. Therefore, they decided to join the party and pledged to implement its political program and constitution, vote for the CPP with 100% support, maintain internal unity, actively disseminate the party's political program and state laws to the public, and mobilize members to ensure the party's continuous victory.
