Romualdez's health not an emergency case, doctor testifies
In a trial concerning former Speaker Martin Romualdez's health, his attending physician testified that his condition was not an emergency and medical records do not indicate a need for confinement. Romualdez is currently facing charges over alleged kickbacks.
MANILA, Philippines – Dr. Kurt Allen Sibayan, the admitting physician of former speaker Martin Romualdez, said on Thursday, September 10, that he did not see nor examine the lawmaker because he was barred by the attending physicians from entering the room. He also said that Romualdez’s case was not an emergency. The prosecution also noted that there’s nothing in Romualdez’s medical abstract that indicates his health condition requires confinement. The former speaker is currently facing a plunder case over P7.44-billion in alleged kickbacks.
