Phnom Penh Completes Major Canal Dredging to Mitigate Rainy Season Flooding

Phnom Penh authorities have announced the completion of dredging and cleaning operations on a major canal in Dangkao district, in preparation for the upcoming rainy season. To date, 790 meters have been cleared using two excavators. Efforts are underway to complete the remaining 2,510 meters before the peak of the rainy season. Ms. Douen Samphors further clarified that following the debris removal, the team will proceed with installing pipelines to finalize the work in the remaining sections. These efforts are being undertaken under the close attention and guidance of H.E. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, as part of the plan to manage rainy season floods and prevent inundation of residential areas and infrastructure.
