Marikina Villagers Petition Against Tree Cutting for Bridge Project

Residents of Provident Villages in Marikina City have launched a signature campaign opposing the planned tree cutting for a bridge construction project. The project aims to build a bridge connecting the village to Marcos Highway, which is expected to involve the felling of approximately 21 trees. Signs reading "Save me, say no to tree cutting" have been placed on the trees slated for removal. Around 500 residents have signed a petition urging authorities to explore alternative solutions for preserving the old trees. The residents argue that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) should seek community approval before proceeding with the tree-cutting activities.
