Thai Windsurfing Team Completes Full Practice Ahead of Asian Games 2026 Medal Hunt
The Thai national windsurfing team has completed its final preparations in Japan for the 2026 Asian Games, aiming for medal success. After delays due to poor weather, they have begun practical training, with athletes fully prepared and determined to surpass their previous performance.
The Thai national windsurfing team is intensifying its practical training in preparation for the 2026 Asian Games, with the goal of winning medals. Initially, training was primarily land-based due to adverse weather conditions. However, starting from September 13th, the team has begun practicing in the actual competition waters, ensuring athletes are fully prepared. The team has already arrived in Japan for the Asian Games, to be held in Nagoya. Siriporn Kaewduangngam in the Women's IQFoil Open, Chanatkan Charunsuk in the Women's IQFoil U19, along with coaches and a sports scientist, arrived in Japan ahead of the main contingent. They are scheduled to move into the athletes' village on September 23rd, in preparation for the competition running from September 26th to October 3rd. William McMillan in the Men's IQFoil Open and Wachirawit Thon-up in the Men's IQFoil U19, accompanied by coach Sakda Sakunphang, have also joined the team, having traveled from Thailand. Phathana Boonsawad, Secretary-General of the Thai Windsurfing Association, reported that he has received updates confirming the athletes are in excellent condition. At the previous Asian Games in Ningbo, China, the Thai team secured one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. The gold medal was won by Siriporn Kaewduangngam in the Women's RSX class, who also has a history of winning medals in past tournaments.
