Minyar and Pauktaw Cities Renamed with Historic Names, AA Fires 7 Gun Salutes

It has been learned that two cities in Rakhine State, Minpyar and Pauktaw, which are under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), have been renamed with new city names that hold historical significance, and signboards have been erected. It was reported that seven gun salutes were fired during the signboard erection ceremony. On the morning of July 28, Minpyar city was renamed "Anchanapura City," and Pauktaw city was renamed "Wirathanani City." The city administrative bodies held opening ceremonies and began erecting the new signboards. "We have heard that there are plans to change the names of other cities as well. We held an opening ceremony with the city administrative bodies and erected new signboards," a local source told the Irrawaddy Times. Local residents welcomed and praised the renaming of cities in the areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA) with historically meaningful city names. In the 14 townships of Rakhine State, which are liberated areas free from military junta rule, the AA has begun reconstruction efforts and is working to ensure that the administrative machinery operates effectively. Furthermore, "Phadilath," the AA's police force, is also swiftly investigating and handling criminal matters in the region. In addition, timely assistance is being provided for emergency natural disaster relief, such as flood relief, and rescue operations are being carried out in coordination with local charitable organizations. Concurrently, it has been learned that AA's demining teams are continuing to clear landmines in the MyaukU and Maungdaw regions to ensure safety from mine hazards.
