Two Tropical Depressions Affecting Cambodia, Rain and Gusts Forecast for Some Regions

A low-pressure system that formed in the western Pacific Ocean has developed into a new tropical depression, named Krovanh. This, along with the existing tropical depression Saudel, is expected to influence the Kingdom of Cambodia. According to an announcement by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, both systems are impacting the southwest monsoon winds blowing over the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River Basin, Cambodian Sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. However, Cambodia is not situated in the direct path of these two storms. From September 2nd to 4th, changes in weather conditions are anticipated across different regions: In the plains, temperatures are expected to range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 36°C. Winds from the southwest and northwest will blow at an average speed of 7 meters per second. Approximately 20% of areas in Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Poipet, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kampot, and Phnom Penh capital city may experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. In the plateau regions, temperatures will range from a minimum of 24°C to a maximum of 35°C. Winds from the southwest and west will blow at an average speed of 8 meters per second. Approximately 40% of areas in Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oudor Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, the Dangrek Mountains, and the Cardamom Mountains may experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. In coastal areas, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 34°C. Winds from the southwest and southeast will blow at an average speed of 10 meters per second. Approximately 50% of areas in Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor Mountain region may experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Sea waves are expected to range from an average minimum height of 0.50 meters to an average maximum height of 1.75 meters.
