58 townships announced to continue state of emergency

The President's Office announced via Law-like Order No. 3/2026, dated July 21, that the state of emergency will continue in 58 townships, excluding Tonzang and Falam townships, out of the 60 townships declared under Law-like Order No. 1/2026 issued on April 23. At the ninth day of the third regular meeting of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held on July 21, with the consent of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, it was announced that this order will remain in effect for 90 days from today. The townships currently declared under a state of emergency are: In Kachin State: Sumprabum Township, Shwegu Township, Injangyan Township, Sawlaw Township, and Chefai Township. In Kayah State: Shataw Township, Phasaung Township, and Mae Soe Township. In Karen State: Kawkareik Township and Kyainseikgyi Township. In Chin State: Kanpetlet Township, Thantlang Township, Paletwa Township, Mindat Township, and Matupi Township. In Sagaing Region: Kalay Township, Penwegon Township, Kin-U Township, Wunthaw Township, Kani Township, Dipayin Township, Pale Township, and Indaw Township. In Magway Region: Pauk Township, Myaing Township, Saw Township, Thlin Township, and Ye-U Township. In Mandalay Region: Ngazun Township. In Rakhine State: Ramree Township, Pauktaw Township, Ponnagyun Township, Yathedaung Township, Gwa Township, Maungdaw Township, Buthidaung Township, Kyauktaw Township, Myebon Township, Myepon Township, Mrauk-U Township, Thandwe Township, Ann Township, and Taungup Township. In Shan State: Namtu Township, Mabein Township, Kutkai Township, Namkham Township, Theinni Township, Kunlong Township, Namhsan Township, Mantong Township, Hopan Township, Laukkai Township, Konkyan Township, Mogok Township, Kyaukme Township, Thibaw Township, and Mongla Township. Furthermore, the President's Office announced via Law-like Order No. 4/2026 that a military administrative order will continue to be issued in these 58 townships where the state of emergency is extended, to restore administration, community peace and stability, and the rule of law to their original state, and that administrative and judicial powers and responsibilities have been delegated to the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services. This order is also declared to be effective for 90 days from today.
