Algerian Companies Eye Indonesian Products and Technology, Opening Export Avenues

Several companies in Algeria are actively seeking cooperation opportunities with Indonesian businesses, ranging from the supply of raw materials and automotive components to industrial technology. This initiative was revealed through a series of meetings between the Indonesian Ambassador to Algeria, Yusron Bahauddin Ambary, and various companies in the provinces of Mostaganem and Oran on August 12-13, 2026. The meetings, organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Algiers, are part of efforts to identify prospective buyers and business partners for the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), scheduled to be held from October 14-18, 2026. Among the companies expressing their needs is GISB Electric, a manufacturer of cables and electrical equipment based in Mostaganem. The company is looking for raw materials, supporting products, and expertise from Indonesia to develop its industry and has also expressed interest in attending the 41st TEI to connect with Indonesian firms. Another opportunity arises from Sarl Itrab Bois in Oran, which is seeking partners for the development of a tire factory and electric motor assembly facilities in Algeria. Sarl Itrab Bois has confirmed its participation in the 41st TEI, opening avenues for Indonesian companies in the tire, electric vehicle, automotive component, and supporting technology sectors. In the textile sector, Sarl King Royal requires rayon viscose yarn for the production of women's clothing accessories. The company previously imported raw materials from Indonesia but halted these activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. King Royal is now keen to resume supplies from Indonesia. Ambassador Yusron stated, "The meetings with business actors in Mostaganem and Oran showed that there is a real need in the Algerian market that can be met by products, technology, and expertise from Indonesia." He noted that the opportunities extend beyond mere goods export, encompassing production partnerships, technology transfer, investment, and joint industrial development. Ambassador Yusron emphasized that the 41st TEI can serve as a platform to directly connect Algerian companies' needs with Indonesian business actors. "The needs we have identified not only present export opportunities but also open up space for building industrial partnerships and long-term investments," he said. The Indonesian Embassy in Algiers plans to continue exploring the needs of prospective buyers and business partners in Algeria to further expand access for Indonesian businesses.
