Vietnam Launches Project to Phase Out Ozone-Depleting Substances

Vietnam has achieved the goal of eliminating approximately 240 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent by August 2025 through the management and phase-out of substances controlled under the Montreal Protocol. Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh stated on September 16 that this fulfills Vietnam's responsibility as a signatory to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. This achievement demonstrates Vietnam's sincere commitment to managing and reducing greenhouse gases and ozone-depleting substances, aligning with its international commitments.
