Vietnam Railways Sees 14% Passenger Surge During National Day Holiday, Tet Ticket Sales Begin

Vietnam Railways reported a significant increase in passenger numbers during the National Day (September 2) holiday period, with over 219,000 passengers, a 14% rise compared to the same period last year. The extended five-day holiday break contributed to a surge in travel and tourism demand. In response to the elevated demand, the national railway operator supplemented its regular services by running an additional four Reunification trains and 33 sectional trains. To maximize capacity, all trains departing during the holiday were configured with the maximum number of carriages. A notable highlight of this year's holiday transport was the launch of the "Hue Ancient Capital - Phong Nha: World Heritage Journey" tourist train. This new tourism transport product has garnered initial attention from travelers, contributing to a more diverse range of experiences along the Central Heritage route. Previously, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the railway sector transported nearly 400,000 passengers, nearly double the figure for the National Day holiday. Following the conclusion of the National Day peak period, Vietnam Railways is shifting its focus to serving the 2027 Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday. The first phase of ticket sales, designated for organizations and groups, has been completed. The second phase, offering tickets to individual passengers, commenced on September 5 at 8 AM across all official sales channels, including the website, mobile app, agencies, and stations.
