Cambodia's Ministry of Labor Brings 3,800 Job Opportunities and Social Protection to Prey Veng

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, through its Employment Forum, Social Security, and Vocational Training activities under the theme "Khmer Helps Find Jobs and Provides Jobs for Khmer," has brought 3,800 job opportunities, B.o.s.s. benefits, and TVET program information to over 600 citizens. The event was held on the morning of August 1, 2026, at the Kamchamae District Hall in Prey Veng Province, specifically targeting former migrant workers from Thailand and young job seekers. H.E. Mao Thida, Secretary of State, representing H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, stated that there are currently over 90,000 job opportunities available across the country. The ministry has brought 3,800 job opportunities from enterprises, companies, and factories to the local area, enabling citizens to apply and interview directly and secure employment immediately. H.E. Mao Thida emphasized that providing these job opportunities is part of the government and the Ministry of Labor's efforts to ensure citizens, especially former migrant workers, find decent jobs, earn income, and improve their family's living standards. Jobs within local enterprises, companies, and factories also contribute to building the national economy and family happiness. Employees receive benefits from B.o.s.s., including occupational risk, healthcare, and pensions, similar to civil servants. Pregnant women, in particular, receive prenatal check-ups, healthcare, and allowances until their children are under two years old. The Secretary of State highlighted that migration for work in Thailand still faces risks such as safety issues, labor exploitation, lack of health protection, violence, discrimination, and family separation. In response, the ministry has implemented Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) tests in eight construction trades to provide official skill certificates and ensure fair wages and employment. Former migrant workers and youth can also enroll in free technical and vocational training through the "1.5 Million TVET" program at the Prey Veng Provincial Polytechnic Institute or via mobile units, with various skill options including construction, machinery repair, electrical work, air conditioning, baking, coffee making, and salon services. This aligns with the policy of "at least one life skill per person." Furthermore, H.E. Mao Thida urged citizens to disseminate information about job opportunities, B.o.s.s. benefits, and the TVET program to their family members, relatives, and friends. For those intending to work abroad for higher salaries, she advised selecting legal companies and verifying their registration with authorities, or contacting the hotline at 1297 for employment matching and 1286 for B.o.s.s. services.
