President U Min Aung Hlaing meets with town elders in Myaing town and discusses regional development

■ The President stated that educational deficiencies can lower the socio-economic status of individuals and cause significant losses to the State. On the afternoon of July 12, President U Min Aung Hlaing met with town elders and responsible officials from Myaing town at the Sasana Vimanama Temple in Myaing town and discussed matters related to regional development. Members accompanying the President on the tour, the Chief Minister of Magway Region, the Commander of the Central Military Command, responsible officials from various departments in Myaing town, and town elders attended the meeting. In his address on regional development, the President stated that Myaing town is a strategic location and therefore needs to strive to be a model for urban development within the district. He noted that Myaing town is a city with a strong educational background, and many students achieved national-level success in this year's university entrance examinations. He emphasized that "a good start leads to a sure end" and that those responsible for teaching need to work diligently from the basics. The President stated that his government has designated KG+9 as a compulsory education system and is promoting education from all aspects. He said that educational deficiencies can lower the socio-economic status of individuals and cause significant losses to the State, and that only through formal education can specialized skills be acquired. He added that reading can provide knowledge and enjoyment, as well as enhance understanding, thinking ability, and critical judgment. He warned that if reading is neglected in addition to formal education, individuals will struggle to survive. The President expressed his regret at seeing many young people resort to armed violence due to the electoral fraud that occurred in the 2020 general election. He attributed this to the seduction and incitement by organizations and individuals who do not desire national stability and peace, and to a lack of ability to discern good from bad and cause and effect. He stated that the primary reasons are deficiencies in formal education and a lack of literary knowledge. He stressed the need to learn from historical events in the country and to implement reforms, and that the promotion of education must be carried out. The President stated that his government is vigorously working to develop the socio-economic lives of the people based on agricultural and livestock production. He urged the people to strive to stand on their own feet by acquiring formal and specialized education. He also emphasized the need to plan for smooth economic activities, as well as to improve the income of individual citizens, in carrying out urban development projects such as beautifying and developing Myaing town. Following this, the President donated books to the local people of Myaing town, which were received by one of the town elders. Subsequently, the town elders of Myaing town presented their requests regarding regional development, including: the construction of a protective embankment along the Myaing town riverside road in low-lying areas to prevent flooding during high water levels of the Irrawaddy River; the upgrading of the riverside road; the approval for the construction of a new building for the 16-bed township hospital in Yarthar village, Myaing (Saku) Township; the approval for a dormitory for trainees coming from afar to the Industrial, Agricultural, and Livestock Training School at Saku Basic Education High School; the implementation of a solar power generation project, which is needed for the Saku Township area; the approval to use solar power instead of electricity for the water supply system of the Municipal Committee in Kyauk Tan village; the upgrading of the dirt road in Tanakha forest in Ward 1 of Myaing town to a concrete road; and other regional development needs.
