Orange Rainfall Warning Issued for Metro Manila, Other Provinces Amid Persistent Monsoon Rains

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Metro Manila and other provinces were placed under orange and yellow rainfall warnings on Wednesday morning as the southwest monsoon or habagat persists, the state weather bureau said. In its heavy rainfall advisory on Wednesday issued at 8 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said orange rainfall warning is up in the following areas: Under orange warning, 15 mm and 30 mm rainfall is expected within one hour and can continue in the next two hours. For every hour, this volume of rainfall can fill four 20-gallon water containers per square meter. Moreover, a yellow warning was raised over the following areas: Areas under yellow warning tend to experience rainfall between 7.5 mm and 15 mm within one hour and can continue in the next two hours. Meanwhile, Pagasa said that light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rains are also expected over Quezon, Laguna and parts of Nueva Ecija within the next three hours. Light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rains are also affecting parts of Pampanga, Tarlac, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal and Bulacan, which may persist for the next three hours and affect nearby areas. /jpv
