Pattaya Discusses Expanding Investment in Smart City and Tourism

Pattaya City has held discussions with stakeholders regarding the expansion of investment for smart city development and the further promotion of its tourism industry. During the discussions, investment ideas and development goals for realizing a smart city in Chonburi province were presented. Priority areas included the utilization of clean energy, the creation of comprehensive tourism and entertainment destinations, and the promotion of knowledge in the energy and tourism sectors, alongside social responsibility and sustainable development. Both sides exchanged views on applying technology and innovation to urban development and on possible investment partnerships. The goal is to position Chonburi as a leading smart-city demonstration zone and an international tourist destination, strengthening competitiveness and creating economic opportunities at the ASEAN and global levels. Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngamphichet stated that the city welcomes cooperation from both domestic and international private-sector partners, especially for projects that introduce technology, innovation, and clean energy into city development while upgrading the tourism sector. He added that such cooperation should support economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents in a balanced and sustainable manner. Officials described the meeting as another opportunity for government and private partners to share perspectives and build a cooperation network on urban development, with the shared goal of advancing Pattaya and Chonburi as a smart city, an international tourism destination, and a city of the future that grows on a sustainable path.
