Jakarta Adjusts Health Service Fees, BPJS Users Remain Free
The Governor of DKI Jakarta has issued a Gubernatorial Regulation adjusting service fees at provincial health facilities. While BPJS Kesehatan users will continue to receive free services, a new fee structure will apply to non-users.
The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has issued a Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) to adjust service fees at health facilities owned by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta. This policy will not apply to residents using BPJS Kesehatan. Pramono ensured that they will continue to receive health services free of charge at hospitals owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and community health centers (Puskesmas). "The principle is that anyone who uses BPJS Kesehatan is free. This applies to almost all hospitals owned by the DKI Regional Government, there are 31 of them, including Puskesmas and auxiliary Puskesmas, all are free," said Pramono to reporters, quoted on Saturday (5/9/2026). On the other hand, Pramono stated that health service fees in DKI Jakarta are currently considered low and need adjustment, especially for people who do not use BPJS Kesehatan. "As for those who do not use BPJS or who use JKN-KIS, the health service fees of the DKI Jakarta government are the lowest. So, this is what needs to be adjusted," he said. Pramono emphasized that this policy is not intended to burden the less fortunate, people with disabilities, or the elderly. These groups can still obtain health services for free through BPJS Kesehatan. According to him, several regional public hospitals owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also provide VIP services. Therefore, adjusting the fees is considered necessary so that government subsidies are not given to people who actually have the ability to pay for health services. Pramono said that the Pergub related to the adjustment of these tariffs has been signed by him. He mentioned that the regulation is Pergub Number 17 of 2024. "So that way, I have issued a Pergub, the Pergub number is 17 of 2024 and I have signed it," he concluded.
