NUG Responds on Suu Kyi's Status, Junta Bombing Kills Civilians, Looting Reported in Myanmar

On May 1, 2026, Myanmar's National Unity Government (NUG) stated that a single photo of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is "not conclusive proof" of her being alive. Meanwhile, over 10 civilians were killed in Kyein-Dwe, Chin State, due to two consecutive days of military junta bombings, and homes were looted in Mawbon village, Hpakant, Kachin State. Internationally, over two dozen news agencies requested Israel for access to the Gaza Strip.
