Cambodia's Fresh Durian Exports to China Surge, Up Nearly 40 Times by July 2026

Cambodia's fresh durian exports to the Chinese market are expanding at a remarkable pace. On July 25, 2026, a ceremony was held for the shipment of three containers (approximately 50 tons) of fresh durian by Pechenda Fruit Production Co., Ltd. to China. The shipment was facilitated via land transport, passing through Laos, and was attended by H.E. Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. This initiative highlights a new achievement stemming from the Ministry of Agriculture's efforts to facilitate market access and establish transit routes through Laos for the export of Cambodian fresh durian to China. The ministry has been actively working to open up markets and streamline transportation for Cambodian agricultural products. As of July 24, 2026, the total volume of fresh durian exported from Cambodia to China has reached 5,738.24 tons. This represents a significant increase, nearly 40 times the total volume exported in the entire year of 2025. This surge is a crucial development for Cambodia's agricultural sector, with considerable potential to benefit local farmers.
