Vietnam Highlights Cooperation Mechanism's Importance for Strengthening China Ties

General Luong Tam Quang, a Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, spoke highly of the annual conference of the Ministers of Public Security/Interior of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. He described it as an important cooperation mechanism for strengthening coordination in safeguarding national security and maintaining social order and safety, thereby contributing to a stable environment for socio-economic development. This statement highlights Vietnam's recognition of the importance of regional security cooperation as a foundation for its socio-economic stability, a top priority under its one-party system. Particularly in its relationship with China, while economic ties are deepening, geopolitical tensions also exist, notably concerning the South China Sea. In such a context, strengthening security cooperation with neighboring countries is considered an indispensable element for Vietnam to ensure strategic stability and continue its economic growth. Vietnam has achieved remarkable economic growth in recent years, but this growth heavily relies on a stable domestic social situation. Frameworks like the conference of security ministers play a crucial role in combating cross-border crime, addressing terrorist threats, and stabilizing the investment environment. This also contributes to strengthening the foundation for Vietnam to enhance its credibility in the international community and attract further foreign investment. Vietnam's foreign policy aims to maximize its national interests by balancing relations with major powers, and regional cooperation is one of its key tools for this purpose.
