Jewish Cemetery in Chonburi Under Investigation for Unauthorized Burials and Money Laundering Allegations

Mr. Sakon Charoenchai, Deputy Minister of Interior, inspected the situation at a "Jewish cemetery" located in Chonburi Province. This inspection confirmed the fact that four bodies had been buried without permits. This issue extends beyond mere burial permit deficiencies, with allegations suggesting it may have become a breeding ground for money laundering. Authorities are strengthening their suspicion that this cemetery was involved in illicit financial flows through the use of nominee arrangements and are proceeding with a detailed investigation. Deputy Minister Sakon stated that if the irregularities are confirmed to be true, measures will be taken, including revoking the Thai nationality of those involved and deporting them from the country. This is considered a firm stance against illicit activities by foreigners within Thailand.
