Vietnam's Northern Mountains Brace for Heavy Rains, Prioritizing Traffic Safety
Vietnam's Directorate for Roads has ordered urgent measures to ensure traffic safety and infrastructure restoration in the northern mountainous regions due to prolonged heavy rainfall. Addressing landslides on National Highway 6 is a top priority.
In response to the ongoing heavy rainfall in Vietnam's northern mountainous regions, the Directorate for Roads has instructed all relevant units to implement urgent and prompt response measures. The top priorities are ensuring traffic safety, rapid restoration of infrastructure damage, and maintaining smooth traffic flow on major roads. Specifically, areas affected by heavy rains and Typhoon No. 1 have experienced landslides and road blockages, necessitating prompt recovery efforts. On National Highway 6, particularly in Dien Bien Province, multiple points have been paralyzed by landslides. The Directorate for Roads is pushing for swift restoration work at these locations. Furthermore, comprehensive measures to ensure aviation safety during the rainy season have been ordered for the aviation sector. In mountainous areas, efforts are underway to expedite the recovery of transportation networks following disruptions caused by heavy rains. The Ministry of Construction has also been directed to urgently deploy plans to cope with heavy rains and the risk of landslides. These measures are seen as part of Vietnam's adaptation strategies to the impacts of climate change, aiming to enhance infrastructure resilience and stabilize people's lives.
