Computer and Copy Shop Catches Fire Due to Overheating During Phone Charging in Kalay City, Three Female Employees Sleeping Upstairs Die

A fire broke out at the Apple computer and copy shop in the Tapu Thita ward of Kalay city, Sagaing Region, resulting in the deaths of three female employees, according to local residents. The fire reportedly started around 11:10 PM on September 21st, due to overheating while charging mobile phones on the ground floor of the shop. "Although the fire did not last long, the fire spread very quickly because there were many flammable materials in the shop," a Kalay city resident told the Ayeyarwaddy Times. The shop owners resided on the ground floor, while the employees slept on the upper floor. The owners were able to escape safely due to the rapid spread of the fire, but the three female employees on the upper floor could not escape in time and were caught in the fire, it is reported. "The owners lived on the ground floor. The employees lived on the upper floor. The owners were safe, but the employees on the upper floor of the shop could not escape in time," a Kalay city resident told the Ayeyarwaddy Times. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by 11:50 PM, but the three female employees could not be rescued in time and lost their lives. The deceased employees were individuals who came from Kalaywa city and Minkin township to work.
