P10.69 Million Worth of Shabu Found Hidden in Wedding Dress Box at Clark Port

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced the seizure of an estimated P10.69 million worth of shabu, weighing approximately 1,573 grams, found hidden inside a box containing a wedding dress at the port of Clark in Pampanga. Joint operatives from the BOC and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) subjected the package to an X-ray examination upon its arrival, which revealed suspicious images. According to the label, the shipment originated from Mexico and was destined for a resident in Mandaluyong City. A subsequent physical examination found no traces of illegal substances on the garment itself. However, customs examiners dismantled the packaging and discovered four plastic sachets, believed to contain shabu, concealed between the double walls of the cardboard box. This seizure highlights the evolving methods employed in drug smuggling into the Philippines. Authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance to combat such illicit activities.
