President of Myanmar requests full rights for Myanmar workers

State Counsellor Min Aung Hlaing met with Mr. Mongkhun Surasaja, Acting President of the Thai National Assembly, at the Thai National Assembly on the morning of August 7. During the meeting, the State Counsellor requested assistance in ensuring that the rights of Myanmar citizens and workers who are in Thailand for various reasons are fully protected and legally safeguarded. During the meeting, the Acting President of the Thai National Assembly stated that he believes both countries can work together to achieve stability, peace, and socio-economic development. He also expressed his desire to foster good cooperation between the parliaments of both countries and to exchange experiences in the legislative field. Following this, the State Counsellor said that this visit will not only promote relations and friendly ties between the two countries but also contribute to enhancing cooperation between governments and between the two parliaments. He noted that Myanmar has only been transitioning to a multi-party democratic system for 15 years and that the parliament is still inexperienced, therefore, he wishes to promote cooperation with the Thai parliament, which has extensive experience. The State Counsellor expressed his belief that the matters discussed will greatly assist in the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries and stated that efforts will continue to further develop and strengthen the existing friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in the future. Afterwards, the State Counsellor toured the parliament building, and the Acting President of the Thai National Assembly accompanied him to see him off upon his departure from the Thai National Assembly.
