Two Suspects, Chinese and Vietnamese Nationals, Arrested for Drug and Illegal Weapon Possession in Cambodia's Koh Kong Province

In Koh Kong Province, southwestern Cambodia, military police have arrested two suspects, a Chinese national and a Vietnamese national, for alleged involvement in drug trafficking, possession, use, and illegal possession of weapons. The operation took place on the night of September 17th in Peam Kay village, Koh Sdech commune, Kirisakor district. The crackdown was led by Colonel Riem Ry, head of the Tarasagor Security Post. The arrested individuals are ZHOU YU XING, a 28-year-old Chinese male whose occupation is unknown and who was not in possession of a passport. He was reportedly residing in Peam Kay village, Koh Sdech commune, Kirisakor district, Koh Kong province. The second suspect is NGUYEN THUY LINH, a 36-year-old Vietnamese female, identified as a massage worker, who also lacked a passport. She was also reportedly residing in the same village. Authorities have seized a quantity of illicit drugs and other evidence from the suspects, and legal proceedings are currently underway. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding criminal activities by foreign nationals in Cambodia, particularly those involving narcotics and illegal firearms. As Cambodia continues to develop economically and attract foreign investment and labor, maintaining public security remains a critical challenge.
